Massage therapy is an integral part of having a healthy body, mind and spirit. So many times people are stressed and feeling out of sorts; a simple, quiet massage can be just what is needed to restore a sense of balance, relaxation and peaceful solitude. Massage therapy releases muscle tension and improves circulation, lymphatic flow, digestion and range of motion. Therapeutic massage can also help alleviate anxiety and depression and release endorphins that work as the body’s natural pain killer.
Many massage clients receive a full body, Swedish massage yet may also need specific work in problem areas. Perhaps there is limited range of motion, areas of old injury or repetitive stress, or specific problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic stiff neck, low back pain or plantar fasciitis. Most conditions can be addressed with additional techniques such as Myofascial Release, Unwinding, Energetic Healing, Reflexology or checking the strength of muscles using Touch for Health.
Each session is based on the needs of the client. A short medical history is taken and then there is a discussion of what type of session the client wants that day. The specific needs and expectations of the client can be discussed with the therapist to design a plan for the best combination of therapies for that first and each subsequent session. Our massage therapist is always looking for ways to benefit our clients as their needs change and educate them on simple, self-care techniques.
